Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos was released in 2002, which for those of you who don't have a calendar handy was roughly 15 years ago. Yet it was just this week that Blizzard announced that it is finally getting its very own public test realm, which Classic Games senior producer Pete Stilwell said will initially be used to test 'new Map Pools for 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's and Free-for-All.'
Hi folks!
Some exciting news… SCR is getting a Public Test Realm (PTR). This means we can share features/code/whatever with you earlier than ever before. It also means the things we’ll be sharing won’t be in a production ready state. PTR means slightly different things to different game teams, so I think it’s worth explaining what PTR means to our team. We have a small dev team on SCR, and in order for PTR to not detract from our efforts to keep releasing content, we won’t be rigorously testing our PTR releases. More specifically, that means:
Some exciting things we’re planning to release on PTR very soon:
PTR will be an “opt-in” experience from the Blizzard Launcher. You can opt in and out at any time. We look forward to hearing your feedback on our PTR builds!
I like this, looking forward to the mouse+keyboard change.
I wish that campaign progress would sync so I don't have unlock every mission again in single player on a second machine. I can't wait for the 64-bit & Metal support on macOS.
Ok, sorry.
Can you please explain why we need a PTR? Because its not very clear. Quote 1: ” We have a small dev team on SCR, and in order for PTR to not detract from our efforts to keep releasing content, we won’t be rigorously testing our PTR releases. “ So, your expending developing energy with your small dev team to create something you will barely use or monitor nor test. In business language this translates to ' we have to do something while we are getting paid, so we are releasing something to make it look like we are actually working ' Nice. Quote 2: ' Keyboard commands working when the mouse is held down. ' You need a PTR to ' test ' this? you know its an issue. Just fix it, how many more people do you need to tell you they have the same issue. This is redundant. Quote 3: 'It should also be noted that since we do not expect a high population on PTR, combined with our PTR infrastructure being largely in Korea, we’re mostly testing ranked stability as well as pulling some useful real-world data from the server.' So again, your investing what limited resources you have into making something you dont expect anyone to use in the hopes of retrieving data that will help you create a new algorithim to match foriegn players with korean's? but your PTR is based in Korea. Where foriegners cant play because they live across the ocean, regardless of whether their lat is actually good or not or if a VPN is being used. So, as an Australian to another Australian, Mr Senior Dev, maybe you could release some real information instead of protending your team is doing anything but S.F.A Other than that thanks for SC:R. Public Test Realm Wow
Great news and thanks for keeping up! I don't think there will be barely anyone if not none playing in PTR when there is nothing exciting worth spending time on 'wasteful virtual account'.
New to Starcraft universe..the new re-vamped version of the original classic seems sweet to look at and a joy to play!
Programmer disfunction experience.
I quit the program with the x in the upper right. Should work fine. But not: my game is still running according to the site. Poorly programmed imo.
Love the mouse no longer blocking keyboard fix! Was waiting for this since SC:R launch, actually kept me from playing!

Office 365 full download cracked. And finally, there are some known issues that they're still working on:
It might seem a little odd for a game this old to be getting an update (and a PTR) now, but Blizzard actually rolled out a Warcraft 3 patch last year—the first since 2011—and patched the even older Diablo 2 right around the same time. It also recently remastered its classic RTS StarCraft (which is even older than Diablo 2), and while there's no indication that any of the Warcraft games are in for the same treatment, it's clear that Blizzard remains committed to its older games.
The Warcraft 3 PTR installer is available here (or here, if you're a Mac user) and is just a few meg in size, but the full client requires 3GB of free space, and of course you need to own Warcraft 3 to take part.
I have just realized there is a new menu item called 'Starcraft II Public Test' which I think has been installed with one of the latest updates.
What is this?I'm not very comfortable with launching executables whose function I don't know.

Hey PvcHudsonCZ,
The PTR appears to be down. Here's a statement from a Community Manager. Thread: 'PTR Coming Down March 5' http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/13902230210
So if I understand it well so momentale public test realm does not work and can not even install it according to the statement Nakatoir
Community Manager knows when to run them, right? or am I wrong and can not even install it according to the statement Nakatoir I believe so, yes.

Community Manager knows when to run them, right? or am I wrongSince the Community Manager made a post about the PTR coming down, I'd assume the CM will make another post in General Discussion once the PTR is live again.
